WEST CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION (WCCA) is a non-profit organization serving communities in western Iowa. Established as part of the nationwide Community Action Network, WCCA operates under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which aims to combat poverty in the United States. The organization serves ten counties in western Iowa: Cass, Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby. WCCA administers various programs designed to help low-income individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. Their core services include Head Start and Early Head Start programs, weatherization assistance, energy assistance through LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program), family development and self-sufficiency programs, and housing assistance initiatives.
