The company was founded in 1977 in New York City by Alan Stillman, the creator of T.G.I Friday’s. The first location was opened in a landmark building on 49th Street and Third Avenue, which was initially built in 1898 for the New York Yacht Club. Today, Smith & Wollensky operates six locations in major cities across the United States, including New York City, Chicago, Miami Beach, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and London. The restaurants are known for their classic steakhouses’ ambiance, with dark wood paneling, leather banquettes, and white tablecloths.
