About Posse Foundation
The Posse Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1989 in New York City with the aim of increasing college access and success rates of underrepresented groups, particularly students of color. The organization achieves this by identifying high school students with exceptional leadership potential and providing them with comprehensive training and support to excel in their college education. The Posse Foundation partners with top colleges and universities across the United States to enroll Posse Scholars in their institutions and to support them through their college careers. The foundation’s signature program, the Posse Model, identifies and recruits cohorts of diverse students, or “Posses,” in ten major cities across the United States each year. Each Posse is composed of ten students who receive full-tuition scholarships from the partnering institutions. The Posse Foundation also provides ongoing mentoring, professional development, and networking opportunities for its scholars to ensure their success in college and beyond. Since its inception, the Posse Foundation has sent over 10,000 students to college, partnering with over 60 colleges and universities. The organization has received numerous awards and recognition for the success of its innovative college access and leadership development model.
