About Photo Marketing Association

The Photo Marketing Association (PMA) was an international trade association that represented the interests of the photographic and imaging industries. Founded in 1928, PMA had its headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, and was comprised of more than 20,000 members from over 100 countries. PMA created and sponsored numerous events, exhibitions, and conventions around the world, providing industry practitioners with opportunities to network, exchange ideas, and showcase their products and services. Through its various programs and initiatives, PMA worked to advance the use and understanding of photographic and imaging technologies, foster innovation and creativity, and promote the relevance and importance of the industry. In 2017, PMA merged with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) to become part of a new organization called the Imaging Alliance. The Imaging Alliance continued PMA’s work in representing the interests of the photographic and imaging industries, offering a range of benefits and services to its members, and promoting the growth and development of the industry. The Imaging Alliance also expanded its focus to include the emerging areas of virtual reality, augmented reality, and other advanced imaging technologies.
