About Marsh Supermarkets
Marsh Supermarkets was a prominent American grocery store chain that operated from 1931 to 2017. Founded by Ermal Marsh in Muncie, Indiana, the company grew to become one of the largest supermarket chains in the region, with stores in Indiana and Ohio. Throughout its existence, Marsh Supermarkets aimed to provide customers with quality products at competitive prices. They offered a broad range of grocery items, including fresh produce, meat, dairy products, and general merchandise. The company also operated pharmacy departments, fuel centers, and specialty stores within some locations. Over the years, Marsh Supermarkets went through various ownership changes and expansions. In 1953, it was sold to a group of investors led by Ohio-based O’Malia family. In the 1990s, Marsh expanded its operations through acquisitions and opened stores under different formats, such as Marsh Hometown Markets and MainStreet Markets.
