DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI) is a non-profit organization based in New York City, founded in 1991. The organization’s mission is to provide inner-city youth with opportunities to play, learn, and grow, while also helping them develop important life skills through sports and academic programs. DREAM’s flagship program is their baseball and softball program, which serves thousands of youth each year across New York City’s five boroughs. In addition to sports, the organization offers academic support programs, college readiness programs, and social-emotional learning programs. The organization also operates DREAM Charter School, a free, public charter school located in East Harlem that serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade. The school’s mission is to provide a high-quality education to children from low-income families, with the goal of preparing them for success in high school, college, and beyond. DREAM has received numerous awards and recognition for its work, including being named a finalist for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2017. The organization continues to expand its reach and impact, with plans to open additional charter schools and expand its programs to new communities in the coming years.
