The company was founded in 2013 when Valero Energy Corporation spun off its retail operations. CST Brands primarily operated in the United States and Canada under various brand names, including Corner Store, Dépanneur, and Nice N Easy. CST Brands owned and operated over 1,900 retail locations, making it one of the largest independent convenience store chains in North America. Its stores offered a wide range of products, including fuel, snacks, beverages, tobacco, and other convenience items. The company also provided quick-service food options, such as freshly made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, hot dogs, and pizza. In addition to its retail operations, CST Brands also operated a wholesale motor fuel distribution network that supplied fuel to its own stores as well as to third-party customers. The company’s distribution network encompassed multiple states, ensuring a reliable fuel supply to its retail locations. In 2017, CST Brands was acquired by Alimentation Couche-Tard, a leading global convenience store operator based in Canada. As part of the acquisition, the Corner Store and Dépanneur brands were integrated into the Couche-Tard portfolio, while the Nice N Easy brand was phased out. Following the acquisition, CST Brands ceased to exist as a separate entity. The integration of its retail operations within Couche-Tard allowed for increased operational efficiencies and expanded market reach for the company.
