Chateau Elan is a luxury resort and winery located in Braselton, Georgia, approximately 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. Established in 1981 by Donald and Nancy Panoz, the resort spans over 3,500 acres and features a French-style chateau inspired by the architecture of the Loire Valley. The property includes a 275-room hotel, multiple restaurants, a 35,000-square-foot European spa, and four golf courses. The winery, which was the first established in Georgia since Prohibition, produces a variety of wines from both locally grown and imported grapes. The vineyard initially planted muscadine grapes, native to the southeastern United States, but later expanded to include European vinifera varieties. Chateau Elan’s conference center offers over 40,000 square feet of meeting space, making it a significant destination for corporate events and weddings in the Southeast. The resort also features tennis courts, swimming pools, and multiple dining venues ranging from casual to fine dining. In 2019, the property underwent a $25 million renovation, updating its guest rooms, restaurants, and public spaces. The resort is currently owned and operated by Wheelock Street Capital, which acquired the property in 2017. Chateau Elan has received numerous industry accolades, including recognition from AAA and Wine Enthusiast magazine.
