Tyler Independent School District, commonly abbreviated as Tyler ISD, is a public school district located in Tyler, Texas, United States. It was established in 1882 and serves the Tyler area and parts of Smith County. The district covers approximately 200 square miles and has 22 campuses that consist of 17 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and Tyler Lee High School. As of the 2019-2020 school year, Tyler ISD had a total enrollment of approximately 18,000 students, making it one of the largest school districts in East Texas. The district has a diverse student body and offers various academic programs designed to meet the needs of all students, including special education, bilingual education, and gifted and talented programs. Tyler ISD is committed to providing a quality education to its students and has established a mission to empower students to become successful lifelong learners.
