Kangaroo Express, an operating trade name of The Pantry, was a chain of convenience stores located across the southeastern United States. Founded in 1967, the company operated approximately 1,500 stores in 13 states before being acquired by Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2015. Kangaroo Express stores offered a variety of items, including snacks, drinks, cigarettes, lottery tickets, and gasoline. Many locations also featured a fast-food restaurant, such as Subway or Dunkin’ Donuts. The company had a loyalty program called “Roo Club”, which allowed customers to earn discounts and free items by making purchases in-store. Kangaroo Express also had partnerships with various sports teams and events, such as NASCAR and the Daytona International Speedway. In addition to its retail operations, Kangaroo Express supported charitable organizations through its “Kangaroo Express for the Kids” program. The program raised funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, with over $10 million donated over the course of its existence. Though Kangaroo Express is no longer in operation, its legacy lives on through its parent company The Pantry and its new owner Alimentation Couche-Tard.
