Tell me about your journey to Truv.
I’ve been in the background screening industry for 22 years. Most recently, I was the Director of Sales at TazWorks, which was acquired by MeridianLink. So much has changed since I started 22 years ago, but in many ways, it’s stayed the same. I love working with consumer reporting agencies and what appealed to me about Truv was that it’s solving a real problem that CRAs have. The cost of employment history verifications has skyrocketed because of the incumbent vendor, and I’m excited to help CRAs find a way to continue doing verifications without having to resort to the slow manual processes or deal with exorbitant costs and fees.
22 years is a really long time. What has kept you in this industry?
I love the background screening industry. 10 years ago, it was a good idea to run background checks. Now, background screening is a necessity. I think of this industry as the superhero that gets people into good jobs and helps them find great neighbors. I love being part of that and basically being the backbone of the economy, moving it forward. It’s been so fun to be in this space, to see it grow and evolve.
What excites you most about your role at Truv?
I’m excited to continue working with the customers I had at TazWorks and build new relationships with CRAs outside of TazWorks. The industry is really trying to figure out how to solve this verification problem because they’re forced to use the vendor that’s been in the space. Being able to bring new technology that’s easier and much more cost-effective to CRAs is really what drives me to get out of bed in the morning.
Is there anything about Truv’s culture or mission that drives you?
I was one of the early employees at TazWorks and I love being at the beginning stages. I like being closer to the product and the innovation. There’s so much potential at Truv. I’m just looking forward to bringing the firepower because the sky is the limit.
You just attended the 2022 PBSA mid-year conference. What did you learn?
One of the things that really struck me was how wonderful it is to have an organization like PBSA and to be part of it. It was so nice to see everyone in person. At the conference, there were a lot of discussions about the industry shifting because of all the mergers and acquisitions, and compliance is always a hot button issue that keeps us on our toes.
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
I have 3 kids and we’re pretty active. We love being anywhere in the sun or near the beach. We have a very active lifestyle so our happy place is outside and being adventurous.
Thank you Kensie for letting us get to know you better. Meet up with Kensie at the upcoming MeridianLink and TazWorks conference in Huntington Beach, CA.
